Fayette County is located in South Central Texas.
Major highways servicing the county are Interstate 10 with easy access to Katy/Houston to the east and San Antonio to the west. State Highways 71 and US Highway 290 provides access from Fayette County to Austin and cities to the north and west as well as providing access to Interstate 10 to the south.
The town of Round Top, and unincorporated areas Ruetersville, Warrenton, and the city of Carmine are well known in South Central Texas for the large antique shows that happen twice a year are along State Hwy 237 which runs between State Hwy 71 and US Hwy 290.
The City of Fayetteville is located just off State Hwy 237 on Farm to Market 159 about 12 miles from the antique alley and it is just minutes from Lake Fayette well known for its bass fishing.
The city of La Grange is the county seat located just off State Hwy 71.
Other unincorporated areas in Fayette County are Winedale, Warda, Winchester, West Point, Plum, Swiss Alp, Cistern, Muldoon, Ellinger, and Kirtley. The city of Schulenburg and the town of Flatonia are in the southern portion of the county down by Interstate 10.
